Compared to conventional core materials like silicon steel and ferrite, nanocrystalline cores deliver several key advantages:
Ultra-high permeability – up to 80,000, over 12 times that of Mn-Zn ferrite, enabling substantial size reduction of inductors under the same conditions.
Extremely low core loss – only about one-third of ferrite at high frequencies. This is attributed to low hysteresis loss (due to fine nanocrystalline grains with low magnetization resistance) and low eddy current loss (due to high resistivity that effectively suppresses eddy currents).
Excellent frequency and temperature stability – stable performance across 10 kHz to 5 MHz, with an operating range of -40°C to 180°C for reliable operation in harsh environments.
High saturation flux density – Bs up to 1.2–1.25 T, far exceeding that of ferrite, allowing for higher current handling without saturation.
